1.-What is a domain and why are they used?
A domain is a unique name that identifies your website and emails. They are formed by 2 or more terms separated by a dot. i.e.: hostinghq.net or mail.hostinghq.net
Domains are used because they represent an identification code for websites that is easy to remember. Each computer connected to the net has a unique number that identifies it, similar to a phone number, and allows you to enter any website. These numbers are often random, therefore it′s better to use domains instead of numbers. I.e. it′s easier to remember "www.ebay.com" than "66.135.208.87"
2.-What domain should I use to identify my website?
We suggest that you choose a domain that reflects your identity in a direct and precise way. With long domains is easier to make mistakes such as typos and bad spelling. If possible the domain should reflect the nature of your site though it extension, i.e., use .com for general and commercial websites, .biz when it′s a website dedicated to make business, .org if it′s a charity or a non-profit.
3.-What happens if someone is using a domain I′d like to use?
Domains are unique, so there′s only one owner for each. If someone has already taken the domain you want, you have 2 options: contact the current owner and offer them to sell it to you, or simply search for a different one, or the same one with a different extension, i.e. yourdomain.net instead of yourdomain.com
4.-How can I know if the domain I want to use is available?
Go to Domains on this website and search for its availability.
5.-Once I know that the domain that interests me is available, what do I do next?
If you have found a domain that you like and its available, we suggest that you register it immediately. It difficult to find great domains, so if you find one that suits you, register it as soon as you can.
6.-Should I register my domain? What is domain registration?
You cannot use a domain you have not registered. Your domain registration is similar to a lease. The registration lets you use it for a finite amount of time (1 year or more).
7.-What is the difference between domain registration and web hosting?
Web hosting refers to the space you are renting on a server connected to the web to host the files and databases that make up your website. Domain registration is the process necessary to reserve a domain name that identifies your website.
8.-Does HostingHQ.net offer "URL forwarding"?
Yes, we can redirect your domain to any IP or URL you desire. "URL forwarding" is included with all our plans.
9.-Can I use international domains?
Yes, we host international domains with no problems, but only register top-level domains, .us domains and .ca domains. For international domains we suggest that you contact the NIC of the country you are interested in registering your domain, to find out if said domain is available. Any qualified domain (FQDN compliant) can be hosted with us, but we only register .com .net .org .biz .us .info .me .name .mobi .ca
10.-Can I host my site at HostingHQ.net and keep my own DNS?
Yes, we are flexible and will be glad to satisfy your need as much as possible.
11.-Do I have to register my domain with HostingHQ.net?
No, even though HostingHQ.net, offers domain registration at prices as low as US$15.95, you are free to register elsewhere (even when these services can cost 3 times or more).
12.-How can I find my domain registration and expiration date?
If you can′t remember when and where your domain was registered, please visit a whois site, such as www.whois.sc Search for your domain to see who registered it and when does it expire.
13.-How long is the domain registration for and how can I renew it?
Domain registrations can be renewed indefinitely. To renew them contact the registrar or move it to another registrar. If you are transferring a domain, make sure your registrar has confirmed the transfer. Without the approval of both registrars (old and new) you cannot transfer your domain.
14.-What happens if my domain has expired?
There is a grace period of 1 month after it expires, in which you can renew it, by paying a small fine. If it goes beyond this period it can be expensive and long before you recover a domain, and there is the chance that you can lose it. We recommend that you always renew your domains on time.
15.-How long do I have to wait until my domain propagates?
Generally the waiting time until your domain has propagated effectively is between 24 and 72 hours. This is because the ISPs, hosting providers and data centers all have to update the DNS records that contain your domain.
16.-Can I use my domain with or without www?
Yes, you can see your site in all browsers without typing www. You also can add as many sub domains as your plan with Hosting HQ allows.
17.-Is it possible to change my domain?

It is also possible to have more than one domain pointing to the same website.
18.-Can I have more than one domain?
Yes, check our hosting plans.

Yes but only with a hosting plan.

21.-May I have additional domains directed to a directory within my site?
Yes, but this is only available if you are hosting your site with us.
